Great Deal at Albertson's This Week!

I know I'm posting this early, but wanted to give you a heads up on a great deal at Albertson's starting tomorrow. They have a Kraft/Unilever Promo going on where you get $10 in free meat (from their meat dept or butcher block - hotdogs, bacon, etc. aren't items you can use) for every $25 you spend on participating products. So if you spend $50, you get $20 in free meat. I'm not sure if there's a limit, but they are asking you to only do 3 groups of free meat per transaction (or spend $75 get $30 in free meat) and then get back in line.

In addition to this promo, there was a Unilever ham or turkey rebate in the Unilever packet from Sunday's paper (4/5/09) where you get a rebate of up to $20 for one ham or turkey if you buy $40 in Unilever products. If you combine the two promotions, you can get some great deals. So to get the best savings, you could do the following, for example:

Buy $40 worth of Unilever products (this qualifies you for the Unilever rebate)
Buy $10 worth of Kraft or Unilever products (this plus the $40 gets you to $50, which qualifies you for two of the $10 off of a $25 purchase for the Kraft/Unilever Promo)
Buy a ham or turkey for $20 (assuming you can find one that is exactly $20)
Total = $70
Subtract $20 for the Kraft/Unilever Promo
Subtract any coupons you have
Pay $50 minus your coupons
Mail in your rebate for $20
Total Out of Pocket = $30 minus coupons for all items

Keep in mind that to get the $10 off of spending $25 Kraft/Unilever promo, you can use both Kraft and Unilever items, but you have to have $40 of just Unilever items to qualify for the Unilever rebate. Now, these Unilever items don't have to be purchased now or even at Albertson's, you just have to purchase $40 of Unilever items between now and the end of the month and they can be on different receipts. So don't feel you have to overly work your list to get the exact amount of Kraft and Unilever items. You can also purchase a ham or turkey elsewhere, but you won't get the double discount on it like mentioned above. Also, as you're looking at the lists, in the coupon column there will be an underlined U for products that are Unilever - that will help you determine which products you can buy that are participating items in the Unilever rebate.

Also, the rebate is for only 1 ham or turkey up to $20, so you can't buy 2 hams or turkeys and be reimbursed for both. Also, the rebate is up to $20, so if you buy a turkey for $24 you will only be reimbursed for $20 of the $24. Also, the Kraft/Unilever Promo is for up to $10 in meat, so if you spend over $10 per $25, then you will only be instantly credited for up to $10 for each $25. For example, if you buy $50 in participating products and buy $22 in meat, you will only be instantly credited for $20. Hope that makes sense.

One other thing to remember. So you can look at the Kraft/Unilever Promo in two ways: 1. You pay for the meat and get the $10 off of your participating products, or 2. You pay sale price - coupons on your particitpating products, then get the meat for free. When the PYP administrator did the Albertson's list, she took the promo off of the participating items you have to buy to show you how good of a deal they were. So if you are looking at those final prices on the list, you will have to remember that you will also be paying for your meat. You can also look at it the other way, where you get the meat for free, but will pay sale price - coupons for your participating items (without the 40% discount - $10/$25 = 40%). Either way it will be the same price, just remember that you won't get the 40% discount and free meat, you can bookkeep it on one thing or the other, not both. I did see the Smith's ad, but the GS/PYP lists aren't up yet, but I don't think there are a whole ton of items on sale this week. However, the Smith's caselot sale is going on for another week, so if you didn't get your items yet, there's still time. I did hear though, that they aren't ordering in any more, so they won't be issuing rain checks or anything like that. Also, the caselot items won't be listed in the ad, so you may want to keep a hold of this week's ad if you want to remember how much everything was.

Associated Food Stores and Walgreen's had a few good deals, but I'll leave it to you to look over those lists as well as the rest of the Albertson's ad to see all of the other good deals, there are a few of them out there.

This is a bit of a tricky ad at Albertson's this week if you are trying to combine both the Kraft/Unilever Promo and the Unilever Rebate. As I've mentioned before, having things all planned out on your list will help you tremendously in making sure you get things as closely to how you have planned.
